Departure to the Sacred valley and visit of the archeological complex of Pisaq. Stop at the traditional artisanal market before continuing to Ollantaytambo to take the train to Aguas Calientes, a small town located at the foot of the Machu Picchu. Night in hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Very early in the morning, guided visit of the most famous Inca site of the Peru: the Machu Picchu. Then, free time to continue the visit by yourself before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo. Night in hotel in Ollantaytambo.
Visit of the site of Moray, the salines of Maras, and the village of Chinchero, « the city of the rainbow ». After having a typical lunch with a local family, return to Cusco. Night in hotel in Cusco.
Flight to La Paz, administrative capital of Bolivia. Upon your arrival, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day free. Night in hotel in La Paz.
Visit of the valley of the Moon and little walk into this strange rocky formations. Then guided tour of La Paz: the Museum of Gold and the Witches’market. In the evening, departure by night bus in direction to Uyuni. Night in the bus.
Departure in 4x4 vehicle in direction to the Salar of Uyuni. On the way, visit of the « cemetery of train » (an old railway junction), and stops in several small villages such as Colchani, where is still extracted the salt by hand. From the small island of Incahuasi studded with centuries-old cactus, you enjoy a magnificent view on the salar. Then continuation until your first refuge, in the small village of San Juan. Night in refuge in San Juan. * Attention : refuges in Bolivia present basic quality of comfort and services (no heat, generally no electricity, rooms and toilets are sometimes shared …). Discovery of the salar of Chuguana and its Ollagüe volcano, still active. You pass by 3 small lagoons, where you can observe 3 types of pink flamingos. Then you cross the Siloli desert, where stands the famous stony tree. Arrival in the Colorada lagoon where you stay for the night. Night in refuge in Laguna Colorada.
Last day of excursion in the salar of Uyuni and in the South Lipez. Stop in the hot springs of Polques, discovery of the salar of Dali, named like that because of its surrounding landscapes, reminding the paintings of the famous painter. Return to Uyuni and departure by night bus in direction to La Paz. Night in the bus.
Early morning arrival in La Paz. After a rest in the hotel, departure in the direction to the Peruvian border. On the way, stop to visit the site of Tihuanaco, the most important and the oldest archaeological complex of Bolivia. After the visit, continuation until Puno. Night in hotel in Puno.
Day excursion on the Lake Titicaca. Visit of the flotting islands Uros and the Taquile island. Here the lifestyle of the inhabitants has preserved its community organization inherited from the inca period. Return to Puno in the afternoon. Night in hotel in Puno.
Transfer to the airport of Juliaca to take flight to Lima, and connection with your international flight.
You will be accompanied by a local private English speaking guide at every stage of the journey. This means you will have a different guide for each region you will visit, depending on their specialization. The level of English of the guides varies from one region to another. A few exceptions: - The trips in public transports (buses, shuttles, trains and internal flights) are not escorted.
In Peru, the hotel standards are different to what you may be accustomed to. Here are a few useful details on every type of accommodation: - Camp: thanks to the perfect organization of our cook(s) and muleteer(s), you could really rest after a good day of walking. We have a tent for the kitchen, another one for to take the meals, another one for the bathrooms. For two persons, you will have a tent with 3 places for more comfort. We also supply you a comfortable mattress and a basin of hot water at the beginning and at the end of the day for your toilet; and of course we prepare you warm and complete meals. - Homestay accommodation: Basic comfort, communal toilets, no hot water and sometimes no running water, simple but clean rooms, sometimes no electricity and the doors do not lock (however, there are no security problems). - 2** and 3*** hotels (local standards): comfortable rooms, simple and clean, private bathroom with hot water; some hotels offer rooms equipped with a safe, heating system, mini bar, … As far as our possibilities, we choose hotels whose geographical location will allow you to fully enjoy the town and its attractions.
In order to allow you more freedom during your trip, only a few meals are included in our programs: these are the meals during the treks (cold at noon and hot in the evening) and during certain excursions when the conditions make it necessary (on the Puno-Cusco road, in the Sacred Valley, etc). For the non-included meals, expect 5 to 10 USD per person. This allows you to choose the time, place and menu according to your desires!
Most of the time of your trip, your travels will take place in private vehicles: you will have at your service a private vehicle with a Spanish speaking driver who will adapt to your rhythm (photo stop, shopping, etc. …). Exceptions: - For the touristic buses Chivay-Puno and Puno-Cusco - Lima trips, you will travel in a comfortable and secure bus line with an English / Spanish speaking colelctive guide.
