This is a trip that will allow you to discover the Andean landscapes through two treks, one in the Colca canyon and the other one around the Ausangate mountain, “the lord of the Andes” in the Cusco region. Add it the major sites of Peru such as Titicaca Lake and the Machu Picchu to get a complete trip in 20 days. This itinerary has been designed to allow the lovers of trekkings and great outdoors to acclimatize to the height slowly and therefore live fully this Andean adventure!.


Arrival in the airport of Lima, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Night in hotel in Lima.

Flight to Arequipa. Upon your arrival, guided tour of Arequipa: its colonial center, the Santuarios Andinos museum, the church and the cloister of the Jesus Company, the Santa Catalina convent and the Yanahuara and Cayma miradors, offering panoramic views of the neighboring volcanoes. Night in hotel in Arequipa.

Departure to Chivay. Stop at the Cruz del Condor, a mirador offering a spectacular view on the canyon of Colca and from where you could observe the flight of the largest bird of the world: the condor. Then, transfer to the San Miguel Mirador where begins the trek until San Juan de Chuccho

Second day of trekking. Visit of different villages such as Cosnirhua and Malata and meeting with its local communities. Arrival at the Oasis, a peacefull place where you can enjoy the swimming pool and rest under the palm trees. Nuit in bungalow.

Ascension to Cabanaconde. Then, transfert to Chivay and departure by touristic bus to Puno. Arrival in the evening. Night in hotel in Puno.

Day excursion on the Titicaca lake. Visit of the flotting islands Uros and the Taquile island where the lifestyle of the inhabitants preserved its community organization inherited from the inca period. Return to Puno in the evening. Night in hotel in Puno

Departure by touristic bus to Cusco. On road, stops for visits : the village of Pukara, the pass of La Raya (4360 m), symbolizing the end of Altiplano and the begining of the region of Cusco ; having lunch in Sicuani ; the inca sanctuary of Raqchi ; the San Pedro church in the village of Andahuaylillas, also known as the “Sistine chapel” of South America. Night in hotel in Cusco

On the morning, visit of the four ruins located on the heights of Cusco : Tambomachay, PucaPucara, Kenko and Sacsayhuaman. Return in the city center to visit the cathedral of Cusco and the Santo Domingo monastery, ancient temple of the Sun, also named Koricancha. Rest of the day free. Night in hotel in Cusco.

Departure to the Sacred valley and visit of the archeological complex of Pisaq, the traditional artisanal market of Pisaq and the salines of Maras. After having a typical lunch with a local family, transfer to Ollantaytambo to take the train to Aguas Calientes, a small town located at the foot of the Machu Picchu. Night in hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Very early in the morning, guided visit of the most famous Inca site of the Peru: the Machu Picchu. Then, free time to continue the visit by yourself before taking the train to back to Cusco. Night in hotel in Cusco.

Transfer to Tinqui where you meet the team of the trekking where begins the trek. The camp is settled at the foot of the Ausangate (6378 m) in the village of Upis. Possibilty of bathing in the hot sources and attend at sunset on the summit. Night in campement. 4 ½ hours of hike; +480 m of height diference

Wake up in front of the Lord of the Peruvian mountains. Then departure on a path rising along the Ausangate and going up to the pass of Arapa (4700 mètres). On the other side, the scenery is extremely different : a moon-shaped colorful valley with an unobstructed view on the summits of Sorimani and Tucusari, and as a background, a glacier. Continuation towards Hatun Pucacocha, the « big red lake » facing the Ausangate. Then, crossing the pass of Apacheta (4840 m) to reach the frozen water lake of Ausangatecocha. Night in campement. 6 hours of hike; +575 m / -370 m of height diference

Physical day because several passages of high passes wait for you. First, the pass of Apacheta (4860 m) where you make stop for the lunch. Then, you go down to the Ausangatecocha lake (4650 m) with its turquoise blue waters rich in trouts. Then, crossing of the second pass, Palomani (5190 m), highest point of the itinerary. After this, descent on the other side, towards the base camp of the Ausangate (4600 m) in Jampa, in the middle of herds of alpacas, lamas and sheeps. Night in campement. 6 to 7 hours of hike; +1015 m / -800 m of height diference

Direction to the village of Chilca Finaya with its herds of sheeps, alpacas and horses. You reach the last pass of your trekking, Paso Arapa pass (5090 m), from where the view on the Mountain range is unobstructed. Then, going down towards Pacchanta for the night. Night in campement. 7 hours of hike; +290 m / -775 m of height diference

Last stage of your trekking, until Tinqui where you arrive late in the morning. Then, transfer to Cusco. Night in hotel in Cusco. 2 ½ hours of hike; +415 m of height diference

You will be accompanied by a local private English speaking guide at every stage of the journey. This means you will have a different guide for each region you will visit, depending on their specialization. The level of English of the guides varies from one region to another. A few exceptions: - The trips in public transports (buses, shuttles, trains and internal flights) are not escorted.

In Peru, the hotel standards are different to what you may be accustomed to. Here are a few useful details on every type of accommodation: - Camp: thanks to the perfect organization of our cook(s) and muleteer(s), you could really rest after a good day of walking. We have a tent for the kitchen, another one for to take the meals, another one for the bathrooms. For two persons, you will have a tent with 3 places for more comfort. We also supply you a comfortable mattress and a basin of hot water at the beginning and at the end of the day for your toilet; and of course we prepare you warm and complete meals. - Homestay accommodation: Basic comfort, communal toilets, no hot water and sometimes no running water, simple but clean rooms, sometimes no electricity  and the doors do not lock (however, there are no security problems). - 2** and 3*** hotels (local standards): comfortable rooms, simple and clean, private bathroom with hot water; some hotels offer rooms equipped with a safe, heating system, mini bar, … As far as our possibilities, we choose hotels whose geographical location will allow you to fully enjoy the town and its attractions.


In order to allow you more freedom during your trip, only a few meals are included in our programs: these are the meals during the treks (cold at noon and hot in the evening) and during certain excursions when the conditions make it necessary (on the Puno-Cusco road, in the Sacred Valley, etc). For the non-included meals, expect 5 to 10 USD per person. This allows you to choose the time, place and menu according to your desires!


Most of the time of your trip, your travels will take place in private vehicles: you will have at your service a private vehicle with a Spanish speaking driver who will adapt to your rhythm (photo stop, shopping, etc. …). Exceptions: - For the touristic buses Chivay-Puno and Puno-Cusco - Lima trips, you will travel in a comfortable and secure bus line with an English / Spanish speaking colelctive guide.
