Here is a trekking of 10 days during which you will discover a mountain massif still largely unfrequented: the Huayhuash mountain range. Neighboring the White Mountain range, this mountain offers a grand landscape made of glaciers and high altitude lakes with magnificent colors. Departure by bus towards Huaraz, located in the Andes. Upon your arrival, weclome and transfer to your hotel Night in hotel in Huaraz
Day of acclimatization at the altitude with the discovery of the archaeologicla site of Wilcahuain. Night in hotel in Huaraz. 5 hours of hike; +400 m / -400 m of height diference
Departure to the Huayhuash mountain range. You will pass by the villages of Recuay and Chiquian until the village of Matacancha where the campement is settled. Night in campement.
Beginning of your trekking. Crossing of the first pass of the itinerary, those of Cacanan Punta (4700 m), which allows you to reach the East side of the cordillera. Settle of the campement near the Mitucocha lagoon (4230 m). Night in campement. 5 hours of hike; +530 m / -470 m of height diference
Continuation towards the pass of Yananpunta (4650 m) before going down to the mountain lake of Carhuacocha (4138 m). Night in campement. 5 hours of hike; +420 m / -512 m of height diference
You go through the high valleys dotted with lakes before rising up the pass of Carnicero (4600 m). Then, you reach the mountain pastures of Huayhuash (4490 m). Night in campement. 6 hours of hike; +462 m / -110 m of height diferenc
Crossing of the Portachuelo pass (4750 m). From here, you enjoy unobstructed view over the snowy summits of the « Leon dormido » and the Cordillera of Raura. The camp is settled next to the big and beautiful lake of Viconga (4407m). In the afternoon, possibility to bath in the hot springs water. Night in campement. 5 hours of hike; +260 m / -343 m of height diference
Crossing of the Cuyo pass (5000 m). From here, you enjoy unobstructed view over the snowy summits of Yerupaja, Carnicero, Rasac and many other. Going down in the quebrada (canyon) of Guanacpatay. Then, settle of the camp in Hatun Cuyoc. Night in campement. 5 hours of hike; +593 m / -508 m of height diference
Steady rise until the highest pass of your trek, the pass of San Antonio (5050 m). From here, you have a magnificent view over the glaciers Rasac, south Yerupaja, Siula and over the mountain lakes of Sarapococha and Jurau. Then, going down towards the Jurau lagoon and continuation until Huayllapa and Huatiac (4300 m). Night in campement. 7 hours of hike; +558 m / -1450 m of height diference
Crossing of the passes of Tapush and Yaucha Punta (4847 m). From this second pass, you have a vertiginous and impressive view over the west face of Yerupaja. After a little of rest, descent into the mountainside until the Jahuacoha lagoon. Night in campement. 7 hours of hike; +450 m / -700 m of height diference
Crossing of the Macrash Punta pass (4272 m). A very beautiful path on a mountainside leads you at Llamac (3250 m). The, transfer to Chiquian and then Huaraz. Night in hotel in Huaraz. 5 hours of hike; +222 m / -1022 m of height diference

You will be accompanied by a local private English speaking guide at every stage of the journey. This means you will have a different guide for each region you will visit, depending on their specialization. The level of English of the guides varies from one region to another. A few exceptions: - The trips in public transports (buses, shuttles, trains and internal flights) are not escorted.
In Peru, the hotel standards are different to what you may be accustomed to. Here are a few useful details on every type of accommodation: - Camp: thanks to the perfect organization of our cook(s) and muleteer(s), you could really rest after a good day of walking. We have a tent for the kitchen, another one for to take the meals, another one for the bathrooms. For two persons, you will have a tent with 3 places for more comfort. We also supply you a comfortable mattress and a basin of hot water at the beginning and at the end of the day for your toilet; and of course we prepare you warm and complete meals. - Homestay accommodation: Basic comfort, communal toilets, no hot water and sometimes no running water, simple but clean rooms, sometimes no electricity and the doors do not lock (however, there are no security problems). - 2** and 3*** hotels (local standards): comfortable rooms, simple and clean, private bathroom with hot water; some hotels offer rooms equipped with a safe, heating system, mini bar, … As far as our possibilities, we choose hotels whose geographical location will allow you to fully enjoy the town and its attractions.
In order to allow you more freedom during your trip, only a few meals are included in our programs: these are the meals during the treks (cold at noon and hot in the evening) and during certain excursions when the conditions make it necessary (on the Puno-Cusco road, in the Sacred Valley, etc). For the non-included meals, expect 5 to 10 USD per person. This allows you to choose the time, place and menu according to your desires!
Most of the time of your trip, your travels will take place in private vehicles: you will have at your service a private vehicle with a Spanish speaking driver who will adapt to your rhythm (photo stop, shopping, etc. …). Exceptions: - For the Lima – Huaraz – Mancos and Huaraz - Lima trips, you will travel in a comfortable and secure bus line.
