From the coast to Machu Picchu, this trip combines the main sites of Peru. You will start on the coast with the Ballestas Islands and the Huacachina oasis as well as Nasca and its mysterious lines. You will then continue your journey visiting the beautiful city of Arequipa and the Colca Canyon before heading for Lake Titicaca. Arrival in the airport of Lima, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Night in hotel in Lima.
Early morning departure by bus to Paracas located on the famous Pan-American road by the Pacific side. Upon your arrival, boat trip towards the Ballestas islands and discovery of the local marine wildlife : sea lions, pelicans, auks and other sea birds. Then continuation towards Ica for a visit of a bodega where the famous Pisco, the national alcohol of Peru, is produced. After the visit, continuation towards the oasis of Huacachina where you will have the possibility to make some sandboard and buggy on the sand dunes. Night in hotel in the Oasis of Huacachina.
Departure by bus to Nasca. Upon your arrival, visit of the valley of las Trancas and the pre-inca cemetery of Chauchilla, where are dozens of mummies very well preserved by the dry climate of the región. Night in hotel in Nasca.
Free morning in Nasca with the possibility of overflying the famous lines of Nasca and discover these enigmatic figures visible only of the sky. In the afternoon, departure by bus to Arequipa. Arrival in the evening. Night in hotel in Arequipa.
Guided tour of Arequipa : its colonial center, the Santuarios Andinos museum, the church and the cloister of the Jesus Company, the Santa Catalina convent and the Yanahuara and Cayma miradors, offering panoramic views of the neighboring volcanoes. Afternoon free. Night in hotel in Arequipa.
Early departure to the Colca canyon, one of the deepest canyons of the world. On the road, discovery of the national reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, populated with wild vicunas. Night in hotel in the canyon of Colca.
Early departure for the Cruz del Condor, a mirador offering a spectacular view on the canyon of Colca and from where you could observe the flight of the largest bird of the world: the condor. Return to Chivay and departure by touristic bus to Puno. Arrival in the evening. Night in hotel in Puno.
Day excursion on Lake Titicaca. Visit of the flotting islands Uros and the Amantani island. Here, you could walk until the Pachatata (4200 m), and enjoy a magnificent sunset on the lake, if the weather permits. Night in homestay in Amantani. *If you don’t want to spend night in honestay, possibility to take a day excursion on the lake with return to Puno for the night.
Continuation of your excursion on the Lake Titicaca to the Taquile island. Here the lifestyle of the inhabitants has preserved its community organization inherited from the inca period. Return to Puno in the evening. Night in hotel in Puno.
Departure by touristic bus to Cusco. On road, stops for visits : the village of Pukara, the pass of La Raya (4360 m), symbolizing the end of Altiplano and the begining of the region of Cusco ; having lunch in Sicuani ; the inca sanctuary of Raqchi ; the San Pedro church in the village of Andahuaylillas, also known as the “Sistine chapel” of South America. Night in hotel in Cusco.
On the morning, visit of the four ruins located on the heights of Cusco : Tambomachay, PucaPucara, Kenko and Sacsayhuaman. Return in the city center to visit the cathedral of Cusco and the Santo Domingo monastery, ancient temple of the Sun, also named Koricancha. Rest of the day free. Night in hotel in Cusco.
Departure to the Sacred valley and visit of Chinchero, « the city of the rainbow », known for its textile art, the site of Moray and the salines of Maras. Then, transfer to Ollantaytambo to take the train to Aguas Calientes, a small town located at the foot of the Machu Picchu. Night in hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Very early in the morning, guided visit of the most famous Inca site of the Peru: the Machu Picchu. Then, free time to continue the visit by yourself before taking the train to Ollantaytambo. Night in hotel in Ollantaytambo.
Visit of the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo and visit of the archeological complex of Pisaq. Stop at the traditional artisanal market before returning to Cusco. Night in hotel in Cusco.
Flight to Lima, and connection with your international flight.
You will be accompanied by a local private English speaking guide at every stage of the journey. This means you will have a different guide for each region you will visit, depending on their specialization. The level of English of the guides varies from one region to another. A few exceptions: - The trips in public transports (buses, shuttles, trains and internal flights) are not escorted.
In Peru, the hotel standards are different to what you may be accustomed to. Here are a few useful details on every type of accommodation: - Camp: thanks to the perfect organization of our cook(s) and muleteer(s), you could really rest after a good day of walking. We have a tent for the kitchen, another one for to take the meals, another one for the bathrooms. For two persons, you will have a tent with 3 places for more comfort. We also supply you a comfortable mattress and a basin of hot water at the beginning and at the end of the day for your toilet; and of course we prepare you warm and complete meals. - Homestay accommodation: Basic comfort, communal toilets, no hot water and sometimes no running water, simple but clean rooms, sometimes no electricity and the doors do not lock (however, there are no security problems). - 2** and 3*** hotels (local standards): comfortable rooms, simple and clean, private bathroom with hot water; some hotels offer rooms equipped with a safe, heating system, mini bar, … As far as our possibilities, we choose hotels whose geographical location will allow you to fully enjoy the town and its attractions.
In order to allow you more freedom during your trip, only a few meals are included in our programs: these are the meals during the treks (cold at noon and hot in the evening) and during certain excursions when the conditions make it necessary (on the Puno-Cusco road, in the Sacred Valley, etc). For the non-included meals, expect 5 to 10 USD per person. This allows you to choose the time, place and menu according to your desires!
Most of the time of your trip, your travels will take place in private vehicles: you will have at your service a private vehicle with a Spanish speaking driver who will adapt to your rhythm (photo stop, shopping, etc. …). Exceptions: - For the touristic buses Chivay-Puno and Puno-Cusco - Lima trips, you will travel in a comfortable and secure bus line with an English / Spanish speaking colelctive guide.
